I smoke a pipe from time to time and I've tried most ways of lighting: Zippo pipe lighter, wooden matches, cardboard matches, disposable butane lighters, etc. Wooden matches always gave the best flavor and control, but I felt like I was going through so many of them due to the slow way I smoke and the necessity of constantly re-lighting.This wick imparts the same control as matches, which gives me the precision I want, and it doesn't add any unpleasant flavors. The spool should last a long while, but when it's gone, I'll buy again.

Keep in the zipper packaging that it came in. If you leave it out, it will dry quickly. Still works dry just burns a bit faster.
